Job Description

The Uptown Youth Hub is one of five Youth Opportunity Hubs, a first-of-its-kind effort to knit together community-based providers funded through the Manhattan District Attorney Office's Criminal Justice Investment Initiative.

The Uptown Hub will outreach to youth from Washington Heights and Inwood, connecting them to a full range of wraparound services delivered through a four-pronged strategy: creative youth development opportunities; educational/vocational assistance; health and mental health services; and intensive case management services for high-risk youth.

The Youth Advocate will be the primary point of contact between the Uptown Hub's Central Office and partner agency, YM & YWHA of Washington Heights and Inwood. The Youth Advocate will work with all programs within the YM-YWHA of Washington Heights and Inwood to engage and connect candidates to the Hub's wraparound services.This position is with YM & YWHA of Washington Heights and Inwood and works in close partnership with New York-Presbyterian (NYP) Hospital, which operates the Uptown Hub.


* Connect candidates to the Uptown Hub and other partner agencies within the Hub network.
* Provide referrals to internal and external resources to reduce candidates barriers to completing programming.
* Facilitate workshops and information sessions on the Uptown Hub and partner opportunities.
* Conduct follow-up and engage candidates to ensure attendance in program activities.
* Maintain comprehensive case notes, progress notes, and candidate case records.
* Collect evidence of achieved outcomes.
* Perform data entry of demographic, enrollment, attendance, outcome, and other required data in various online internal and external data management platforms in a timely manner.
* Perform quality assurance monthly to ensure compliance with recordkeeping and audit guidelines.
* Attend and participate in required meetings at both the partner agency and Hub Central.
* Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


* 22 Weekly Hours
* Scheduled between the hours of 6:00 PM and 9:30 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays


* Part-time, FLSA Non-Exempt

Minimum Qualifications:

* BA/BS required in Human Services, Social Work or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of BA/BS.
* At least one year of experience in a social services agency.
* Exceptional attention to detail, highly organized.
* Effective presentation, public speaking and workshop facilitation skills.
* Ability to adapt to changing priorities and operate in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent time management skills.
* Well versed in Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.


* Experience working with LGBT-identified, runaway and homeless, foster care and/or immigrant youth populations.
* Demonstrate an understanding of, and practice the principles of positive youth development.
* Bilingual (English/Spanish)
