Job Description

As the MCT Plant Manager, you will be responsible for fast paced production lines in our manufacturing, development, and continuous learning environment. You’ll will provide hands on mentoring and coaching to assist your team in delivering sustainable results that surpass industry standards. You will need to utilize your strong communication and teamwork skills to drive quality and production goals while working with R&D on manufacturing & product development; all while ensuring our industry leading safety vision is pursued.

 To be considered for this opportunity, you must have:


  • Bachelor’s Degree (advanced degree preferred)
  • 8+ years in a process manufacturing environment. Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing costs and financial controls.
  • 3+ years of experience managing others. Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
  • Ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, employee relations, quality, productivity and cost.


Also preferred:

  • 2+ years extrusion experience (preferred)
  • Project engineering experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing (preferred).


Additional Information:

  • Manage production operations to meet product demand requirements, exceed machine design parameters, and facilitate technology development opportunities. A successful candidate will need to motivate team members to meet and exceed the production quotas as well as cultivate an environment of innovation to produce technology development. Strong leaders will yield teams who strive to continuously improve how the work is done and what is produced. Must be able to hold themselves and team members accountable for the goals set forth.
  • Establish systems to ensure quality product conformance that meet or exceed quality standards. Effective leaders will build on the organizational advantage that James Hardie holds with our product quality. Candidate will continue to push and motivate team to surpass the previously set standards. Must use leadership skills to inspire confidence in the team that they can continually push the envelope of quality products that James Hardie promises its customers.
  • Implement cost effective systems to control capital, operating expenditures, manpower and wages. Candidate must continuously search for methods to reduce costs while still maintaining product quality and employee safety. Candidate will have to search for ways to reduce unnecessary overhead whenever possible and encourage other plant employees to report if processes could be done more efficiently.
  • Actively lead and support the plant safety programs. Candidate will need to enthusiastically vocalize support for the safety programs and place responsibility in the hands of each team member to perform their tasks in accordance with these expectations. Incorporates floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel to assist in reducing safety expectations. Continuously monitor the safety procedures of the plant to ensure there is no lag over time.
  • Create an environment that promotes positive teamwork. Candidate must use leadership abilities to promote a culture of respect in the plant. Team members must carry out their roles in a way that allows everyone to feel welcome. Utilize the James Hardie value of respect while leading to ensure that you are getting the most out of each employee.
  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company mission and vision. As a leader employees may come to you for advice and assistance. You must be able to interact with your team and provide instruction if necessary. Strong candidates will lead their team according to the James Hardie values and be able to answer questions, solve conflict, and provide training when necessary.
