SAP BW / HANA Developer

Job Description

 

Summary:

 

As SAP BW / HANA Developer, you will be a part of an agile James Hardie BI Team. The selected candidate will design, develop, configure, test and maintain SAP BW software solutions based on business requirements, using development standards and software development lifecycle process. Daily tasks may include requirements analysis, design, planning, programming, testing, documentation, error/exception handling, and performance improvements. This individual will be instrumental in growing the BI environment to serve the needs of James Hardie worldwide.

 Essential Duties:

  • Interact with business to gather requirements, prioritize work, develop enhancements to the existing system, coordinate testing, and perform change management/training for BW/BI reporting and applications
  • Design comprehensive BI solutions, translating complex requirements into an optimal BI design
  • Design data structures to optimize data load times and end-user data access response times
  • Design processes to minimize data quality risks and proactively identify potential data issues
  • Build and enhance BI objects such as InfoObjects, Transformations, DTPs, InfoProviders (DSOs, InfoCubes, and MultiProviders), and Process Chains.  
  • Monitor BI loads, communicate and troubleshoot issues with data integrity, data design, and functional and technical software issues
  • Perform routine program modifications, performance tuning, problem solving, debugging, and unit testing
  • Maintain BW structures and support for ETL processes for data feeding in and out of BW
  • Prepare project related documentation (functional design, technical design, test scripts) during the different stages of a project
  • Build Business Objects reports and dashboards using Analysis Edition for MS (Analysis/MS), Analysis Edition for OLAP (Analysis/OLAP), Web Intelligence (WEBI), Design Studio and Lumira.
  • Support the training of BI Power Users. This includes WEBI, Analysis/OLAP, Analysis/MS and dashboards developed with Design Studio and Lumira
  • Build out current BW landscape to include non-SAP data sources
  • Adhere to BW/BI best practices and standards to maintain stable Business Information environment
  • Additional responsibilities per management
  • Complies with all local, state, federal, and James Hardie regulations, policies, and procedures

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree (Major: computer science, information systems, mathematics or related field)

Required Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A minimum of 8 -10 years of experience in: SAP BI/BW Development.  
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of knowledge of ECC extractors: SD, FI/CO, COPA PP. MM. QM, WM, TM and APO.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of Configuration of BW data objects: InfoObjects, Transformations, DTPs, InfoProviders (DSOs, InfoCubes, and MultiProviders), and Process Chains.
  • Experience reconciling ECC and BW data.
  • Knowledge of ABAP and SAP query development
  • A plus if experience with dashboards development using SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio- Analysis Edition for MS (Analysis/MS), LUMIRA, Analysis Edition for OLAP (Analysis/OLAP) and Web Intelligence (WEBI).
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with a solid understanding of BI/BW development
  • Development experience with SAP BW on HANA / HANA Enterprise is highly desirable.
  • Excellent project management skills. Ability to create timeline and deliverables and execute plan successfully
  • Excellent PC skills including MS Project, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively manage multiple and frequently changing priorities
  • High degree of accuracy with attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Minimal travel required, less than 25%. However, this may vary depending on project deadlines and implementation

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge of database administration and management
  • Knowledge of database and SQL performance tuning
  • Experience with web analytics, CRM, geospatial and/or social data
  • Strong interest to understand new technologies, frameworks, paradigms
  • Strong interest to understand e-commerce business
  • Experience working with Salesforce.com data
