Job Description

Candidate initially works under the close supervision of engineering staff, assisting Engineers by performing the routine aspects of electrical engineering assignments, subsequently acquiring familiarity with design software, staff and operating procedures.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs electrical design calculations (i.e. low/medium voltage distribution systems, lighting etc), sketches, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignment Coordinates project assignments with those of other engineers and technicians in other disciplines Reviews drawings supplied by vendors, clients and engineers and architects and recommends necessary changes Researches code issues and works with City, State and County officials Researches design options and documents findings for Project Engineers and/or Project Managers Assists with other duties assigned by Project Engineers Attends client and internal meetings, and interacts with clients as level of experience progresses Training and Experience -Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering is required
-Will possess an EIT certification or have the ability to successfully pass the Fundamentals of Engineering exam within six months of hire
-Course work in power system analysis, electric machinery and power transmission systems is beneficial
-Previous Electrical intern experience preferred
-Ability to efficiently utilize time in executing assigned tasks accurately and on time

-Proficiency using Microsoft Office computer programs with emphasis on Excel and Word

- Experience with database software and file sharing tools (ProjectWise, Sharepoint, etc.) is a plus

-CADD proficiency (AutoCAD and/or Microstation) is considered an important asset

-Proficiency using lighting design computer software, especially AGI32 by Lighting Analysts, Inc. is a plus

Other Essential Functions Essential Functions: Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights. No exposure to tobacco smoke .
