Position Summary:

In this role, the Transportation Planner will assist Transportation Engineers and Planners by performing the routine aspects of civil engineering assignments, subsequently providing familiarity with the programs, staff, and operating procedures of the company. The Transportation Planner will work on a variety of projects pertaining to traffic engineering and analysis.

Performs civil design calculations for a variety of projects, sketches, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignment

* Coordinates project assignments with those of other engineers, technicians, and planners in his/her discipline group.
* Reviews design and analysis work supplied by contractors, clients, and engineers then recommends necessary changes.
* Researches code issues and works with City, State, and County officials.
* Researches design options and documents findings for Project Engineers and/or Project Managers.
* Provide technical expertise in the preparation of feasibility studies and reports in coordination with the project manager.
* Performs spatial and GIS-based data analysis.
* Responsible for portions of presentations and public facilitation.
* May attend design review meetings, and interact with clients as his or her level of experience progresses
* Assists with other duties assigned by Project Engineers and/or Project Managers.


* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Planning, or Mathematics
* At least one previous summer design internship on transportation projects is preferred
* One previous summer internship experience with Microstation and/or AutoCAD is preferred
* Experience in Synchro or Vissim preferred
* Must have developed the following advanced skills; oral and written communication skills, planning, team work, decision making, judgment and problem solving
