Job Description

Student Intern Meteorologists are expected to clearly communicate the forecast created by the Iteris Forecast Meteorologist via multimedia platforms directly to the customer. The message delivered needs to tell the "weather story" and how the weather will impact pavement conditions for the locations specified. The message should directly reflect the message of the Forecast Meteorologist. This especially includes conveying meteorological phenomena through prose to be understood by the non-meteorological community. Student Intern Meteorologists will need to familiarize themselves with Iteris products and showcase these products throughout video weather briefings. The video weather briefings will need to be produced, edited, and delivered by the Student Intern Meteorologist using Camtasia video editing software. It is essential that these videos are created in a timely manner and meet expected deadlines. Student Intern Meteorologist must exhibit professional behavior at all times and be willing to work with a team of meteorologists. As time permits, Student Intern Meteorologists may learn the basis of forecasting and how to evaluate observed and numerically modeled weather data to create specialized forecasts, primarily in support of the transportation and agricultural industry. Development of personal forecasting techniques and participation in training is also encouraged. Other duties of the intern will be to assist Technical Support with quality assurance for all weather products, making changes to the routes within our Decision Support Products, setting up new users with access to our products, providing and addressing other customer questions/concerns as needed. On occasion, interns will also help with creating training material for our weather products such as videos and documentation. Qualifications Required - Applicants that are college juniors or higher in academic standing at the beginning of the time period are preferred, but second semester sophomores may also be considered if coursework and experience are appropriate.

* Must hold a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5, and be enrolled at least half-time.
* Must provide current resume.
* Must have successfully completed Meteorology I and Meteorology II.
* Must provide a completed faculty recommendation.

Qualifications Desired - Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to tell the weather story, understand how the weather will impact the pavement, and how to present this and company information articulately.

* Individual should be self-driving and have the ability to work as a team player.
* Ability to multi-task in highly changing work environment.
* Ability to edit video using Camtasia and Final Cut Pro.
* Ability to work in a high stress environment and meet specific time requirements and deadlines
