Job Description

Essential Duties:

  • Identify, design, and implement security devices, including, but not limited to, Firewalls, VPN, IPS, SEIM, DLP, anti-virus, and anti-malware.
  • Identify, design, and implement certificate management, identity management, authentication, authorization, and federation solutions.
  • Identify, design, and implement policy and procedures, standards, configurations, settings, installation sequences and back-out instructions based on industry best practices.
  • Identify, design, and implement network technologies and methodologies to meet the future needs of the enterprise, including core, distribution, and access layers.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of all applications, systems, networks, etc.
  • Identify and make improvements to the existing network environment by, analysing system performance and optimizing existing strategies and technologies based on workloads, and by implementing leading edge features or methodologies.
  • Act as senior level escalation to diagnose and resolve problems associated with network software and hardware; determine the source of problems and classify their level, priority, and nature.
  • Respond to security events both independently and as part of an Incident Management Team.
  • Participate in hardware and software reviews and recommend purchases.
  • Analyze and make recommendations for hardware and software standardization.
  • Tests software and hardware to evaluate ease of use and compatibility with enterprise environment.
  • Provides rotational 24/7 after-hours support as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Knowledge/Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a medium to large corporate environment
  • ASP/SaaS provider environment a plus
  • Deep understanding of:

    • VLAN, VXLAN, Micro segmentation
    • Federation and trusts
    • Network devices types and use cases

    • Routers/Switches

    • SEIM
    • Multi-layered defense strategies
    • Datacenter/Leaf-Spine
    • VPN
    • Firewalls
    • Identity management and authorization LAN/WAN principals
    • IPS/DLP Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware
    • Certificate and encryption systems
  • Moderate understanding of
      • Hardware virtualization XenServer/XenApp, Hyper-V, KVM
      • Kubernetes, Docket
      • Storage Protocols, Fiber Channel, NFS, iSCSI, SMB, FTP/sFTP
      • Active Directory, Active Directory Server Roles
      • OpenStack
      • Scripting/Automation
      • Linux
