Product Engineer/Implementation Specialist

Job Summary:

Our client has a great culture and benefits and they're seeking a Product Engineer that will provide input to new product requirements and provide subject matter expertise during the development cycle. Product Engineers provide support during the Beta and QA phase and support during and after product release. The Product Engineer acts as Project Manager for support issues after the products have been released. Their involvement early in the requirement-gathering phase is crucial for new product development projects to ensure serviceability issues are covered after the product is released. Product Engineers become the product expert for new products and help insulate the development team during initial release and for the first several months thereafter.

Product Engineers gather data, so they can simulate and demonstrate bugs to the developers, provide details to developers on the causes of issue and make recommendations for solutions. Product Engineers test and document Service Patches then certify for field trial, follow field trials to gather results, then help determine release plan. Also, the Product Engineer validates documents and certifies new 3rd party software products integral to their products as they become available.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide 3rd level support to the 1st and 2nd tiers of support, implementations, and Field Service on escalated issues.
  • Act as the go-between for Development, our Development partners and the PSC.
  • Enter, track and help set priorities for escalated issues
  • Verify Service fixes and Hot fixes
  • Create Technical Bulletins and Notice of Field Change Bulletins.
  • On-site visits to external and internal customers as well as partner locations as needed.
  • Assist with diagnosis and correction of escalated issues.
  • Review and provide input during requirements gathering for new products.
  • Assist QA group during Alpha and Beta test phases of new products.
  • Assist with training of PSC

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in technical support environment
  • Working knowledge of PC and server hardware and operating systems
  • Working knowledge of network connectivity (LAN, WAN & Internet)
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent training/experience is desired
  • Ability to troubleshoot application and hardware issues
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Extensive experience working with virtualization (VMWare, RDS, XenApp, XenDesktop) including setup and troubleshooting.
  • Must be able to travel.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy
