Job Description

Well renowned and stable organization is seeking 2 JavaScript Engineers (One Jr. and one Sr.) to perform robust web development.

Here's a description for the Senior role. The Junior role would be similar but with less architecture and responsibility.

In this role, your primary responsibility is software architecture and development. Additional responsibilities include participation in project time/task estimation, code and architecture reviews, providing support for junior developers, documentation of system architecture and a supporting role for all phases of the development life cycle (project definition, process mapping, architecture, coding, acceptance testing, installation, turnover to support, etc.).

Essential Functions:

  • Produces quality code according to system design and technical standards. Completes code within a reasonable timeframe as monitored by task estimates. Maintains historical records by documenting program development and revisions. Document code consistently throughout the development process by listing a description of the program, special instructions, and any changes made in database tables.
  • Participates in system architecture design. Guides more junior level developers in development of architecture. Participates in system architectural review.
  • Acts as a mentor to more junior level software developers and contract developers in all aspects of software development including design, construction and debugging (problem solving). Analyze system specifications and translate system requirements to task specifications for junior programmers. Trains new team members and contractors to get up to speed on current environment and project architecture.
  • Ability to document architecture plans through GUI mockups and architecture document.
  • Assists in the development of project delivery schedules including providing man-hour estimates for assigned tasks and stories.
  • Submits all code for review per Application Development Methodology guidelines. Serves as peer reviewer in Application Development Methodology code reviews.
  • Shows initiative in determining and recommending problem solutions to Lead Application Developers or Project Manager for final decision-making
  • Responsible for learning new technologies and techniques as required by department directions and business needs. In addition has an understanding of Lean Software development and implements Lean Software development into the coding standards for ABL.
  • Prototyping of new technologies to understand and validate if they will help with the proposed solution
  • Periodically provide support to end users
  • Lead team discussions on different alternatives to solve complex business problems through code
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues with both internally and externally (3rd party) applications and provide feedback to developers/vendors on possible solutions

To be successful in this role you should possess most of the following:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent
  • 3+ years working as software developer
  • Very strong understanding of Object Oriented programming techniques and languages (.NET, Java, C++, or similar) For example: Networking/LANs, TCP/IP protocol, MS Source Safe and/or SVN
  • Experienced with SQL and a variety of databases: Access, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL.
  • Experienced with web programming: JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
  • Thorough understanding of application development technology and supporting construction techniques along with well-developed architectural and technical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and coding skills.
  • Ability to complete difficult assignments in a timely manner.
  • Understands the impact of programming time frames and problems on the business environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
