About the program

The Electrical Engineering Rotational Program is an entry-level rotational role through three departments: Renewable Project Engineering, Operations Engineering, and either Transmission OR Storage Engineering. Successful candidates will gain broad technical knowledge of all aspects of renewable project development and operations while also developing skills and knowledge for a career at Invenergy. The program is anticipated to start in July 2019 will include three rotations over the following 13 months. Placement opportunities into a department after successful completion of the program include a variety of roles across Project Engineering, Operations Engineering, Transmission, and Energy Storage teams.

Rotation Overviews

Renewable Project Electrical Engineering

As part of this rotation you will be responsible for the electrical engineering and construction of cutting-edge renewable energy projects. You will be responsible for conceptual project designs in addition to managing the engineering firms that complete final detailed designs for projects. The electrical systems of these projects may include rotating and inverter based generators, up to 1500V DC wiring systems, medium voltage collection/distribution circuits primarily at 34.5kV-AC, collector substations to step-up power, as well as transmission interconnections to the grid at high and extra high voltages.

Operations Electrical Engineering

In the Operations Electrical Engineering rotation, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Invenergy's existing wind, solar, thermal and storage assets. Operations Engineers are concerned with the overall health and performance of the fleet, but as an Electrical Engineer, you will focus on high-level projects affecting the Transmission, Substation and Collection systems - ranging from 34.5kV to 345kV. A primary focus of the role is troubleshooting high voltage electrical faults, as well as developing programs and maintenance practices to prevent unnecessary site downtime. Additionally, you will be the main contact for site personnel for Electrical safety, procedures, compliance-related issues.

Transmission Electrical Engineering

The Transmission Electrical Engineering team performs technical analysis to assist in the interconnection process for different generation projects. Transmission Engineers are responsible for assisting in other transmission associated activities and analysis, including interpreting the different market rules as they apply to the interconnection process.

Energy Storage Development

As part of the Storage team you will assist with internal and external teams to evaluate requests for proposals and respond to customers with the proper technical design and financial requirements to meet the project needs. Project engineering, evaluation, and execution of commercial and utility-scale energy storage projects in Invenergy's target markets will be required throughout North America, Latin America, and Europe.

Requirements

* BS in Electrical Engineering or related degree
* Graduation date between June 2018 - June 2019
* A minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0
* Knowledge of power systems
* Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects
* Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio
* Strong verbal and written communications skills
* Some travel and field work is required
* Must be available for after-office hours troubleshooting

This position is open to external and internal candidates. Internal candidates must also meet the following eligibility criteria:

* Individual contributor
* No more than 12 months of experience in any of the rotation departments
