Job Description

Purpose: To provide a summary of primary and secondary responsibilities and/or functions as well as demands, experience and skills required for the stated position.

Summary: The primary requirement for the Inventory Control Supervisor is the managing and overseeing all of the warehouse inventory control functions. This position reports to the Warehouse Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Utilizing the tools provided, leads team members to ensure the inventory control policies and procedures are followed.
  • Supervise inventory control functions including put away, cycle counting, replenishment, inventory consolidation and stock rotation.
  • Work with other supervisors to provide feedback on how team members are following our inventory policies and procedures.
  • Work with Quality Control on products failing inspection and follow up with appropriate actions.
  • Ensure all inventory discrepancies are followed up on according to company guidelines.
  • Supervise the processing of cancelled orders back into inventory.
  • Lead the investigation of customer reported errors and work with peer group to identify and correct deficiencies in process, training, or material handling.
  • Perform slotting analysis and re-slot products based on characteristics and inventory turns.
  • Serve as a back up to the Transfer Supervisor.
  • Provide leadership by establishing clear expectations and demonstrating high standards of work practices and safety conscious behavior.
  • Continuously monitor the performance of activities of the inventory control area with a primary focus on customer service.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that all employees practice good warehouse safety and housekeeping practices while enforcing the department policies and procedures on a daily basis. Handles all problems and/or situations that arise daily while maintaining a consistent workflow.
  • Organizing and conducting necessary training activities for the staff and workers
  • Coordinate efficient operation of the inventory control area.
  • Ensure that company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations are followed.
  • Ensuring the proper functioning of all warehouse tools and equipment.
  • Keep work area clean.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience within a high volume warehouse and distribution environment (large number of sku's in multiple configurations).
  • High energy level, ability to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events and reacts well under pressure.
  • Experience in working with ERP or other warehouse management systems.
  • Working understanding of disciplined problem solving/root cause analysis.
  • Previous experience in working with various materials handling equipment such as RF guns.
  • Displays willingness to make decisions timely, exhibits sound and accurate judgment and communicates changes effectively.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with diverse personalities and individuals of all levels within and outside the organization.
  • Team building ability, self motivation, able to work independently.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English in order to promote trainability and interpret work documents including manuals.
  • Includes appropriate people in decision making process and supports/explains reasoning for decisions.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Resourceful and well organized.
  • Basic math skills, such as: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and decimals in order to read understand and operate measurement instruments and work documents.
  • Ability to move between shifts as required.
