Job Description

The primary role of the ERD M&E Intern is to work closely with the ERD Digital Data Manager to ensure that data collection tools and resources for learning are updated and cohesive across knowledge management platforms. The ERD M&E Intern will work with technical staff to develop resources for use both in the field and HQ and will support the collection, cataloguing and organization of materials for platforms including Box and RescueNet. In addition, the ERD M&E Intern will support the development of digital data collection tools in platforms such as CommCare and Kobo.

Responsibilities/Projects:

The ERD M&E intern will be involved in a variety of projects, including:

* Assist with the development of ERD Technical Unit's Monitoring and Evaluation resource library
* Working closely with the ERD Digital Data Manager to support the adaptation and usage of ICT based tools for ERD program data collection and management systems
* Provide training and capacity building in ICT data management tools and techniques (particularly mobile data collection) to ERD country program staff and ERD TAs
* Assist in building data collection apps using CommCare and Kobo (entering surveys in the web-interface, testing logic and design, etc)
* Other related duties as assigned

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the designated period, the intern will:

* Learn about ERD programming within the IRC and the work of the technical unit.
* Hone skills in knowledge management, content development, and team work.
* Develop experience with RescueNet (the IRC's intranet) and other relevant knowledge management technology tools.

Qualifications

* Graduate student (or recent graduate) in international development, economics, computer sciences or other related field
* Experience and/or graduate level coursework in monitoring & evaluation, research methods, and quantitative and qualitative analysis
* Demonstrated ability to work independently on projects with minimal supervision
* Excellent, demonstrated skills in Microsoft Excel and attention to detail
* Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively distill and present complex information in a concise, accessible way
* Expertise creating knowledge management tools such as video tutorials or developing case studies
* Experience with mobile data collection and analysis tools especially ODK-based applications such as CommCare, Kobo, Ona, Formhub, etc. is highly desirable.
* French and Arabic language skills are a plus, but not required

This is an unpaid internship position. No financial compensation, including compensation for relocation, is available.
