Job Description

The Violence Prevention and Response Communications & Program Intern will work closely with the VPRU Program Officer on four large-scale international projects focused on addressing building the capacity of national organizations addressing gender-based violence in emergencies; amplifying the voices of women and girls in prevention and response to sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse in humanitarian settings; supporting adolescents and their families in emergencies; and developing a family violence program model to prevent and respond to violence against women and children. This is an excellent opportunity to expose yourself to a wide range of technical programs led by one of the leading INGOs in the humanitarian field and acquire first-hand experience in communications and program management.

Major Responsibilities:

* Assist with the planning and preparation for international workshops and trainings
* Assist with the day-to-day administration of four international programs
* Assist with the development of internal and external communications products e.g. newsletters, social media and website content, blog posts, etc.
* Complete other relevant tasks as needed
* Support the grants and operations team as needed

Learning Objectives:

* Understand operations and communications functions within an INGO.
* Gain targeted NGO communication and advocacy skills.
* Acquire logistics and event-planning skills.
* Enhance research skills on violence prevention and response.
* Learn how to manage websites and social media

Qualifications

* Ability to work independently and productively in a fast-paced environment.
* Highly organized with the ability to be flexible, multi-task and detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment
* Clear, fluent, and concise oral and written communications skills
* Event planning and social media experience is a plus
* Professional attitude and ability to work with remote-based colleagues
* Flexible and calm work attitude: the ability to respond effectively to changing environments yet remain productive and focused
* Demonstrated computer skills: proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
* Candidates should be in their last year of undergraduate studies in a relevant field. Graduate students are welcome to apply.

Details:

* This internship is unpaid
* Schedule can be flexible, but a commitment of at least 16-20 hours per week is expected
* Applications accepted on a rolling basis
