Job Description

Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) is an open global network of more than 15,000 practitioners, students, teachers, staff from UN agencies, non-governmental organizations, donors, governments and universities who work together within a humanitarian and development framework to ensure all persons the right to quality education and a safe learning environment in emergencies and post-crisis recovery. The network improves communication and coordination among its members by cultivating and facilitating collaborative relationships and creating opportunities and space for sharing knowledge, developing resources, informing policy, building capacity and undertaking joint advocacy. Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Knowledge Management Coordinator, the Intern will provide graphic design support to ensure the quality of INEE's branding materials and communications templates in alignment with INEE's new branding launched May 2019. Duties may include:

* Create dynamic templates for INEE communications protocols and publications
* Produce brochures, banners, and other promotional materials using new INEE branding
* Develop infographics and presentation templates
* Complete additional graphic design projects as needed

* Become familiar with and learn to promote INEE tools and materials.
* Enhance graphic design and writing skills through the development of content for diverse audiences.
* Apply technical graphic design skills to various INEE projects, communications, presentations, and publications.
* Learn valuable project management skills and interact with INEE members across the globe

Qualifications

* Ongoing graduate studies in a relevant field (e.g. graphic design, communications, education,
* information management);
* Strong communication skills: excellent command of English, both spoken and written; knowledge of Spanish, French, Portuguese, and/or Arabic a bonus;
* Experience in graphic design, including proficiency in Adobe InDesign and/or other graphic design software;
* Knowledge of the field of education in emergencies and familiarity with INEE;
* Experience managing complex projects and deadlines involving different partners
* Ability to be flexible and work well independently, under pressure, and in a fast-paced environment
* Excellent organizational skills: the ability to track and follow-up on various tasks;
* Excellent analytical and writing skills: the ability to draft briefs, reports, and syntheses;
* Good interpersonal skills: the ability to successfully interact with a variety of people;
* Flexible work attitude: the ability to follow direction and effectively learn and work in an inter-agency environment as well as self-motivate.

Recruitment Timeline and Working Environment

The Intern will start in June depending on their academic schedule. The intern should be available to work 20 hours per week, but can be up to full-time during the summer, and for a minimum of 3-4 months. If possible, the Intern may work, part-time, at the New York office of the International Rescue Committee (IRC). Applicants based outside of the New York area will be considered for US home-based internships. The Intern may take school credit for the internship with prior agreement from the supervisor.
