Reports to

Plant Superintendent

Job Purpose

To service customers in a safe, efficient, and timely manner using tractor-trailers and box vans

 

Umbrella responsibilities of all employees:

  • Adhering to Plant policies and guidelines
  • Working safely and looking out for the safety of those around them
  • Following Safe Reliable Methods (SRMs) or Job Safety Analyses (JSAs)
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment according to plant housekeeping standards

  • Attending and participating in Plant safety meetings.
  • Managing controllable costs through proper equipment, tool and consumable usage
  • Reporting any safety or maintenance concerns

 

 

  1. Key Responsibilities

  2. Complete pre-trip inspections

  3. Follow all Federal, State, and local D.O.T regulations

  4. Follow all posted speed limits

  5. Ensure company cell phone(s) are turned on and are operational

  6. Do not use cell phones while driving period

  7. Obtain daily work schedule/tickets

  8. Check with dispatcher to determine if any yard work is needed

  9. Ensure timely pickups for scheduled customers

  10. Ensure truck is locked at all times.

  11. Ensure that roll up doors are locked at all times on box vans and that trailers are also locked on tractor-trailers

  12. Post trip inspection reports at end of shift; report any damage on trucks and trailers immediately to management

  13. Complete and submit DOT vehicle operating logs at end of shift.

  14. Complete daily housekeeping, cleaning and trash removal from cab of truck at the end of every shift

  15. Check in with dispatcher prior to leaving for the day

  16. Other duties as assigned

  17. If loaded by the driver, ensure that all container equipment is in good working order and completely clean of any paper and debris.

  18. If any equipment is found deficient before, during, or post trip, the equipment is to be tagged and removed from service.

     

 

  1. Personal Protective Equipment

    • Gloves, approved safety glasses, ear plugs, safety vest, steel toed shoes.

 

 

 

  1. Equipment Operated and Monitored

    • Box Van/Straight Truck

    • Tractor Trailers

    • Electric pallet jack

    • Manual pallet jack

 

  1. Tools used

    • King Pin Lock

    • Red safety straps

    • Load retainer bars and straps

    • Padlock for truck or trailer securement

       

 

  1. Information collected and exchanged

  2. Communicate with receiving on equipment needs.

  3. Communicate with dispatcher if route cannot be completed

  4. Communication with dispatch regarding any truck/equipment repair needs

 

  1. Training/Registration/License/Certification requirement

    • Valid License with CDL A certification

    • Must have clear background check with no on-road or DOT incidents

    • Medically certified

    • Drug and Alcohol training

    • Air Brakes certification

 

Rate of Pay is $20.01/hr.
