International Paper is looking for a MPS Service Technician to be based in the Tampa, FL, area.  The Mechanical Packaging Services Department provides technical, mechanical support on box making equipment.  It maintains inventory of over 500 pieces of equipment to be utilized in box making, supporting IP’s corrugated plants across the nation. Provides 24/7 service primarily in the agriculture segments and seasonal transition that coincides with them. A definite need for willingness to travel (in Florida and out of state), troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis is primary concepts to the technical aspects for the services provided by the Dept.

The MPS Technician installs, repairs and services box forming equipment in the shop and in the field. To include but not be limited to, motors, servo/chain drives, glue systems, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems/controls.  




  • Ability to troubleshoot problems with various pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Repair machinery in a field environment. 
  • Performs machine installs, set up’s and change-over’s.
  • Working knowledge and ability to utilize shop equipment. To include drill press, lathe, mill, and welding/fabricating. Etc.
  • Ability to understand specification sheets, PLC’s,  control logic and schematics




High School Graduate, trade school preferred. Additional training in Electrical, Pneumatics and basic parts fabrication strongly desired. 5+ years of hands on maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. Corrugated industry strongly experience preferred.  Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance methods.  Strong mechanical knowledge of manufacturing processes. Ability to perform root cause analysis and effectively initiate immediate corrective action. Working knowledge and ability to utilize personal computers and software.  Must have valid state driver’s license with good driving record. Must be able and willing to work flexible hours as our customers have 24/7 operations. Must be willing to travel a seasonal team rotation, as this position serves clients nationally and internationally.
