International Paper operates a recycling business which collects, sorts, and processes waste paper and other recyclables across North America. The business contributes to the U.S. paper recycling environmental success story (where recovery now exceeds 60%) and contributes to International Paper’s manufacturing success.
This position has overall responsibility for managing the safe and profitable operation of a recycling plant. This position reports to the Zone General Manager and is a hands-on leadership position responsible for providing direction to plant leadership, Recycling Reps and plant team members.
The Plant General Manager position will be located at our Fremont, CA Recycling Plant.
Responsible for the safety of all plant team members; including setting the vision and expectations, the implementation of corporate and business safety initiatives, the adherence to company safety expectations, and the development, execution and monitoring of plant specific safety plans and results.
Responsible for the financial performance of the plant (P&L responsibility).
Manage two experienced Recycling Reps whose primary role is to sell plant recycling services to new and existing customers.
Responsible for the plant’s staffing, operational efficiency, maintenance and cost control measures.
Effectively communicate operating plans, performance goals and expectations to plant team members.
Support the business mission and vision by modeling desired behaviors, communicating and reinforcing key messages through daily activities and interactions.
Responsible for leading and directing the development, training, and performance of plant team members.
Accountable for effective management of human resources and physical plant assets

Commercial sales experience
Management experience; ability to influence and lead all levels of an organization

Bachelors degree or equivalent education and experience
Manufacturing supervision experience
Knowledge and experience managing a fiber recycling facility
Experience in managing the P&L of a business unit
Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
