Job Description

Process Control Engineer


Job Description:  Work within the Process Control Engineering group, which consists of both IP and on-site contract engineers.  The Mill currently has an active multi-year capital project package to replace obsolete ABB MOD300, Siemens APACS, and Rockwell PLC-based control systems in all areas.  This is an excellent opportunity to participate in the design and installation of a current technology system to allow reliable control system performance for the next 20 years. 

Job responsibilities include:

-Provide process control engineering, system integration and programming expertise and leadership for initiatives including new applications, optimization, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance.

-Provide capital project management and technical direction to support process control systems evolution projects, as well as other projects in the facility plan requiring control system support.

-Provide technical leadership and direction for contract engineering resources on the Process Control Engineering team, including site staffing contracts for Control Systems maintenance and support, QCS system site service, and various capital project activities.


Experience:  Min of 5 years of Process Controls expereince. Prefer 10+ years in an engineering position in a fully integrated pulp and paper mill, or the equivalent experience level in a related continuous process industry.  Qualified candidate will have a functional knowledge of Ethernet networking and Server/Client computing concepts, and control system design, installation, commissioning and troubleshooting experience for one or more of the following systems:




Valmet QCS

Siemens-Moore APACS+

OSI/PI Systems

Rockwell Plant PAX, ControlLogix, PLC5, FactoryTalk View


Education:  Bachelor of Science in related engineering field such as Electrical, Chemical, or Control Systems Engineering
