Utility Packer Competitive Pay Rates:  $13.85-$14.60/hour (Night shift premium = $0.50/hour)

Working Shift: Shift TBD, Utility Packer must accept the shift where the opening occurs. Shift will be either Day Shift 7:00 A.M. -7:00 P.M. or Night Shift 7:00 P.M. – 7:00 A.M. (depending on business need). Must be able to work Nights, 7pm-7am.

 

Time of Operation: 12 hour shifts, working alternately (36) and (48) hour weeks with four (15) minute breaks and one (25) minute paid lunch.

 

UTILITY PACKER JOB SUMMARY:

As a Utility Packer, you will begin either packing cups in Poly, packing lids in Plastics, or packing blanks in Blanking or Promotions. Once a Packer vacancy occurs, you will be placed in the department on the shift where the opening occurs. The Utility Packer with the most seniority in the department they are working in will be moved first. However, the Utility Packer may be moved to another department as business needs dictate. The Utility Packer must be able to work either day or night shift as they will be placed in the department on the shift where the vacancy occurs.

 

While working in Poly, the Utility Packer will safely ensure that cups are correctly packed in KD’s (boxes) and placed on the conveyor according to customer specifications and quality standards.  Duties also include: cup inspection, ensuring correct cup count, preparation of KD’s (boxes), housekeeping of the pack station area, ensuring automated packing tasks are completed appropriately.     

 

While working in Plastics, the Utility Packer will pack plastic lids into a poly bag and stack them in corrugated boxes.  Duties also include:  inspection of lids, packing lids in proper poly bag and case, having the correct case count, and housekeeping of the pack station area.

 

While working in Blanking, the Utility Packer will be under the direction of the Blanker Operator. The packer will remove 4-6” stacks of blanks from machine stacker rods, inspect blanks for quality, and pack good blanks into production carts.  If quality issues are found, the Packer will alert the Blanker Operator, who will make adjustments to the machine.  Duties also include:  utilizing department computers to produce production tickets for blank carts, pushing full carts to corrals for pickup, and moving empty carts back to load onto the machine’s cart lift.

 

While working in Promotions, the Utility Packer will pack labeled blanks into blanking carts.  Duties also include inspecting blanks for defects, loading blanks onto feed section, inspecting label placement, completing necessary paperwork, housekeeping of the area.

 

All packers must work in a safe manner and obey all safety rules.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Must be 18 years old
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to lower up to 30 lbs. from a height of up to 4 feet.
  • Must be able to carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to push a cart weighing up to 1,900 pounds (2 person job)
