Job Description


Since 1974, IFDC has focused on increasing and sustaining food security and agricultural productivity in over 100 developing countries through the development and transfer of effective and environmentally sound crop nutrient technology and agribusiness expertise. IFDC enables smallholder farmers in developing countries to increase agricultural productivity, generate economic growth and practice environmental stewardship by enhancing their ability to manage mineral and organic fertilizers responsibly and participate profitability in input and output markets.

IFDC is searching for a student Intern to work directly with the Chemical Engineering Department

Specific tasks may include:

* Planning and executing experimental work on fertilizer-based projects at laboratory and pilot plant scales;
* Performing process control analyzes, assisting in setting up process equipment, designing experiments and calculating flow rates, developing data sheets and analyzing the raw data taken at the plant;
* Intern will also work together with other Engineers in process engineering design packages and designing equipment; and
* This Internship may require the Intern to work as a technician operating equipment and taking process data, as a laboratory analyst and performing several other tasks such as, cleaning equipment, assisting in maintenance jobs, bagging materials, etc.

Minimum qualifications:

* This Internship requires a knowledge of chemistry, chemical engineering, computer operations, and operation of laboratory equipment;
* Student pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering or other related degree;
* This Internship requires multitasking to work on several experiments simultaneously and the ability to write technical reports;
* This Internship may also require some lifting and carrying of chemicals, samples, raw materials and small equipment;
* Experience working with Excel spreadsheets and/or databases (e.g., Access);
* Experience conducting basic statistical analyses;
* Must have a valid Driver's License and have proof of medical insurance coverage;
* This Internship is for a current undergraduate; Junior or Senior, or a recent graduate;
* Minimum GPA requirement is a 2.5 overall with at least a 3.0 in your related major; and
* Must be able to make a semester commitment of 20 hrs. /week.
