Job Description

As a Research Scientist within Intel Labs/Radio Circuits and Technology, you will work on research related to novel circuits, architectures, and VLSI technologies for ultra-low power wireless communication, focusing on mixed-signal and digital signal-processing systems and circuits.

This is a research position with responsibility to shape Intel Labs research direction and fuel Intel's growth in emerging connectivity and compute market segments. The ideal candidate will lead research and development of ultra-low power circuits, architectures, and VLSI design to enable low-voltage and energy-efficient wireless systems. The position entails leading-edge exploratory research as well as modeling, simulation, and design. You will also participate in development of intellectual property, create research publications, and work with business unit partners to support the research agenda and transfer technologies to products

The responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Research in circuits, architectures, and VLSI design of HW IP blocks, subsystems or full SoCs for ultra-low power wireless digital front-end/digital baseband signal processing systems.
  • Evaluation of multiple implementation options under given power/performance constraints for new usages and algorithms enabling innovative, energy-efficient SoCs.
  • Developing FPGA and silicon prototypes and leading/contributing to test-chips including design, verification, modeling, post-Si testing.
  • Collaboration with wireless systems, algorithm, software, other hardware and backend teams to develop and prototype innovative HW/SW communications/wireless subsystems.

You must possess the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Relevant experience can be obtained through school work, classes and project work, internships, military training, and/ or work experience.

Minimum Requirements:

  • The candidate must be pursuing a  PhD in Electrical Engineering or similar technical discipline.

Minimum 6+ months of experience in the following:

  • At least one digital/RF/analog/mixed-signal circuit tape-out completed in an advanced  process technology.
  • Digital/mixed-signal circuit design.
  • Circuit design and validation tools such as Cadence, Synopsys ICC and DC, Mentor.
  • System Verilog/System C/Verilog/RTL/MATLABFPGA for prototyping.
  • Lab testing, board design, and FPGA validation

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience/knowledge in the following:

  • Working knowledge and understanding of communication theory and signal processing.
  • Digital front-end and digital baseband signal processing  and circuit/VLSI design relating to next generation wireless systems in areas including but  not limited to: MIMO, beamforming, interference mitigation, LTE, LTE-A, cognitive radio,  ultra-low power wireless systems, IOT, wearable systems.
