Power Lab ACPI Engineer


We are looking for a candidate to assist our team with the Intel OS-independent open-source ACPI implementation Advanced Configuration and Power Interface. Our team is responsible for the kernel-level code, user-space tools, an ACPI-related compiler, and a large test suite.

There are opportunities in all of the various components of the project. A good entry point for ACPI would be our test suite. It requires maintenance and debugging of various runtime errors - which typically must be traced to errors in the kernel-level code, incompatibilities with the Microsoft ACPI implementation, errors in the iASL ACPI compiler, or the test suite itself.

Your responsibilities may include the following:

  • Conduct or participate in multidisciplinary research and collaborate with design, layout and/or hardware engineers in the design, development, and utilization of productivity enhancement layout tools and design rule checkers, electronic data processing systems software.
  • Determine computer user needs, advises hardware designers on machine characteristics that affect software systems such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements, designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
  • Responds to customer/client requests or events as they occur. Develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education, judgment and formal software process.

This is an entry level position and will be compensated accordingly.


Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Requirements:

- Must have a Master Degree in Computer Science, Electric Computer Engineering or related field.

- Minimum of 6 months experience with:

  • Debugging

Preferred Qualifications

-Compiler and parser design experience.

-Experience with Linux/Unix kernel development.
