L1 PHY Firmware Engineer


Join the 5G mobile revolution at Intel as part of the Next Generation and Standards group in Intel's Client and Internet of Things Businesses and Systems Architecture Group.

We are looking for an embedded software engineer in L1 PHY layer development for advanced 5G modem prototypes.

Responsible for designing, coding, debugging advanced physical layer firmware of leading edge prototypes for 5G wireless modems.

Work with standards technology development and system engineering to translate 5G communication designs and algorithms into functional pre-standards 3GPP, pre-product LTE-A, 5G prototype designs using state of the art platforms, implementing advanced Tx/Rx transceiver chains in the baseband modem.

Apply advanced problem solving of complex, modem subsystems involving Physical layer and PHY to MAC implementation.

Assess risks and identify issues and solutions to timely and efficiently achieve program goals and project objectives.

Drive resolution of technical issues with cross-functional teams. Escalate issues in an appropriate and timely manner.

  • Software debugging skills for embedded devices using trace and debug tools Lauterbach
  • Experience with embedded environments:
    • VxWorks
    • ThreadX
    • Linux
    • Processors Intel Architecture, ARM or NIOS
  • Experience with software development and configuration management tools:
    •  Eclipse
    • Git
    • SVN
    • Gerrit
    • Jira


Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences. This is an Entry Level position

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a MS or PhD in:
    •  Computer Science
    •  Computer Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Or related discipline.
  • Experience with wireless protocol physical layer algorithms, features and procedures.
  • Experience with software development & methodologies
  • Experience with C, C++ programming.
  • Software debugging skills
