Hardware Engineer

The FPGA Product Team (FPT) in DCG/EG develops technologies that accelerate workloads for better performance and/or efficiency to enable Intel to be the preferred platform provider for next generation cloud computing environments. Candidate will be joining the small and dynamic team designing the recently announced Xeon+FPGA Server product line targeting Cloud Service Providers. Your primary responsibility will be optimizing different workloads using tightly coupled FPGA accelerators. Duties will include: * Designing and developing RTL code using VHDL or Verilog to accelerator kernels for linear algebra, graphical models, combinatorial logic, machine learning etc. * System debug Validation of FPGA prototype systems; * Performance analysis and tuning of workloads on heterogeneous platform.


The following qualifications are required: * PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. * Experience in hardware development using VHDL or Verilog or System Verilog. * Familiarity with FPGA and/or ASIC design tools used for RTL development. The following qualifications are highly desirable (a successful candidate need not possess all of these qualifications, although the more the better): * 5 or more years' experience with mapping various workloads to CPUs and accelerators, including implementing algorithms on FPGAs. * Prior experience working with Heterogeneous (FPGA, GPGPU) hardware systems. * Subject matter expertise in a particular class of algorithms, e.g. speech, cryptography, compression, image processing, etc. *Strong technical and problem solving skills. *Strong written and verbal communications skills. *Ability to define and execute tasks with limited direction.
