HPC Software/Tools Engineer

The candidate will support software and tools development to support the analysis of communication characteristics of applications on various fabric (computer network and interconnect) architectures. The candidate will be a member of a small, fast-paced, multi-disciplinary software team working closely with network fabric architects. The software team is responsible for developing and applying methodologies to measure communications characteristics of applications on future platforms and influence architectural trade-offs. The team will also develop and port open source applications to the target environment. Other tasks include the development of infrastructure for software tools to monitor communication traffic on the hardware.


Required Qualifications:-Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.-Development or classroom experience related to High Performance Computing (HPC), computational science, compilers or tools.-Applicants must have the legal right to work in the US without sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications:-Experience developing, analyzing and tuning C/C++ applications.-Familiarity with network/fabric software stack and Interconnect layers.-Comfortable working with simulators.-Knowledge of Unix/Linux, and scripting languages (e.g. bash, Perl, Python, or Ruby).-Basic understanding of CPU architecture, e.g. CISC (Intel*64 familiarity) and/or RISC.-Familiarity with network/fabric software stack and interconnect layers, or distributed application programming experience (e.g. sockets programming in C, Java, C#, or other languages).-Experience using performance analysis tools (e.g. gprof, gcov, perf, oprofile, VTune) and/or parallel performance analysis tools (e.g. mpiP, Tau, ITAC). -Knowledge of threading using programming models like OpenMP, TBB, OpenCL, and/or pThreads.-Experience with MPI, PGAS or other distributed memory parallel programming models.-Comfortable working with simulators.
