Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
The Software Engineer - Embedded Networking will act as the primary engineer responsible for defining and implementing embedded communication network architectures and software in support of Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) development programs for domestic and international customers. The ideal candidate will be a multi-disciplinary individual with broad development emphasis in embedded SATCOM, LOS and BLOS communication networks who is comfortable interfacing with internal and external customers to include, but not limited to: senior engineers, project managers, customer program managers, IPT leads, business development executives, military customer representatives, and civilian regulatory authorities.
Typical duties and responsibilities span the breadth of embedded network development and design, integration and test and may include many of the following: Perform embedded networking requirements definition, synthesis, analysis and allocation for both embedded network hardware and software. Provide inputs in the definition of verification methodology and development of quality assurance provisions. Provide inputs in the definition of the hardware and software design and interfaces. Perform development of software to support embedded network capability. Perform trade studies and evaluate network architecture alternatives, including modeling and assessment of network behaviors. Conduct technical risk and opportunity analysis and develop mitigation and capture plans. Provide inputs in the development of test plans and procedures and participate in embedded network tests. Assess protocols and standards. Analyze and assess verification and validation results. Perform network analyses to include afford-ability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human factors/human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility and system security. Incorporate regulatory and certification standards and perform supportability analysis. Conduct system design reviews.
Knowledge - Skills & Abilities Required:
Experience with real-time embedded network development
Experience in embedded network architecture development including both hardware and software
Experience with implementation of network protocols
Experience in the derivation of requirements from high-level concepts/specifications
Experience in software development using C/C++, C# and Java
Experience developing and release technical documentation to satisfy technical contractual obligations
This job is limited to employees who, in the performance of their assigned work, regularly apply engineering disciplines to the research, design, development, test, and evaluation of company products, facilities, or manufacturing process and have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree of Science from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. Typical experience: 9-13 years in an engineering classification with a Bachelor's degree or 7-11 years experience in an engineering classification with a Master's degree.
Other requirements and preferences:
Security clearance (SECRET) preferred
Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) development experience preferred
BLOS and SATCOM communication embedded network development experience preferred
