Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

The Systems Engineer - System Integration & Certification will act as the primary engineer responsible for executing Unmanned Aircraft System development programs for domestic and international customers. The ideal candidate will be a multi-disciplinary individual with emphasis in avionics or flight systems certification, regulation and testing who is comfortable interfacing with internal and external customers to include, but not limited to: senior engineers, project managers, customer program managers, IPT leads, business development executives, military customer representatives, and civilian airspace authorities.

Typical duties and responsibilities span the breadth of system development, integration, test and certification and may include many of the following: Perform multi-discipline requirements definition, synthesis, analysis and allocation. Conduct requirements decomposition, develop functional/physical block diagrams and define interface requirements. Analyze vertical/horizontal requirements traceability. Define verification methodology and develops quality assurance provisions. Develop system architecture definition and decomposition. Perform functional analysis and allocation. Analyze use cases and define information exchanges. Define physical architecture and interfaces. Translate customer requirements, constraints, and operational expectations into product designs. Perform trade studies and evaluate alternatives. Conduct technical risk and opportunity analysis and develop mitigation and capture plans. Develop design hierarchy and integrate specialty engineering provisions. Establish system configuration baseline. Perform systems modeling and system/subsystem integration. Develop test plans and procedures. Assess interface protocols and standards. Define instrumentation and data acquisition requirements. Execute integrated tests and test reporting. Analyzes and develops verification and validation results. Perform engineering analysis to include affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human factors/human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility and system security. Incorporate regulatory and certification standards and performs supportability analysis. Conducts system design reviews.

Knowledge - Skills & Abilities Required:

- Experience with US DoD and International Flight certifications (UAS preferred) (e.g. airworthiness, safety, interoperability) processes
- Experience in the interpretation and documentation of test data (e.g. flight test, ground test, environmental test)in particular as applicable to planning for and supporting certification
- Familiarity creating/maintaining performance requirements (DOORS, Cameo, MKS Integrity, or other) and architectural artifacts (DoDAF, MoDAF, UPDM preferred but not required)
- Experience with FAA/EASA/CASA airworthiness criteria and regulations
- Experience in the derivation of requirements from high-level concepts/specifications
- Experience working with US/Foreign government (e.g. DoD) entities
- Experience developing and release technical documentation to satisfy technical contractual obligations


Education Requirements:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree of Science from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. Typical experience: 8-12 years in an engineering classification with a Bachelor's degree or 6-10 years experience in an engineering classification with a Master's degree.

Other requirements and preferences:
Security clearance (SECRET) preferred
Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) development experience preferred
Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconaissance (ISR) mission system experience preferred
Foreign Military Sales (FMS) experience preferred
