We currently have an excellent opportunity for an Accounting Intern (Part time with potential Full Time employment, depending upon schedule). The Accounting Intern is responsible for assisting the Ingleside finance team with the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports and statements for various entities. The Accounting Intern will review and analyze the financial information, ensure proper accounting controls and procedures are adhered to, and assist with various ad hoc projects. Major Core Functions/Responsibilities: * Perform full accounting cycle functions as assigned including, but not limited to, timely and accurate posting, balancing, and reconciliation of the general ledger for each entity * Prepare work papers, financial statements and various reports for internal accounting and auditing * Research and analyze fluctuations and variances between current financial results compared to prior year, prior month, and budgeted amounts * Assist in providing follow-up and documentation of significant variances * Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements * Assist in preparation of monthly management report and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives, including "Budget vs. Actual" variance reports * Assists with proper expenditure coding, document preparation, and other accounting-related activities * Work with Assistant Controller to overhaul the annual budget including, but not limited to, general ledger account clean-up and historic data gathering * Assist with Community Bond Draw reimbursement packages * Coordinate and assist in recording intercompany transactions capturing shared costs among all communities, and allocating appropriately * Provide back-up month-end support for duties assigned to other accountants as needed * Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned Qualifications: *
  • Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) * Intermediate experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook or similar programs * Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills * Strong problem solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills * Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness Education/Experience: * Junior/Senior accounting and/or finance major pursing a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university/college
