Job Description

We are recruiting Medical Officer (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Pediatric Medicine) positions to serve as Locum (PRN) Medical Officers who work in the place of the regular Medical Officers who are absent, or when a clinic is short-staffed. These positions report to the Portland Area Director, Division of Clinical Support, in the Portland Area Office. These positions will be located in Portland, OR; however, based on the need of the health centers, incumbent(s) will be assigned to any of the Indian Health Service Units in Idaho, Washington or Oregon. This open continuous announcement allows acceptance of applications throughout the open period with eligible applicants being placed on a standing register and referred for consideration as vacancies occur. A submitted and completed application package will expire three (3) months after submission and you will need to reapply to keep your application active. This announcement is intended as a mechanism of providing consideration for the greatest number of potential candidates. The first cut-off date for referral of qualified candidate(s) to be considered for available vacant positions will be March 16, 2016. Thereafter, cut-off dates will be established based on the date a request is received from management to fill a position.If hired, you will be assigned a temporary (not-to-exceed 1 year) appointment with an intermittent work schedule which means employment is without a regularly scheduled tour of duty. You are only paid for actual hours worked. Travel and per diem costs to temporary duty station(s) will be paid according to Federal travel regulations. The agency has the option of extending temporary appointments for a maximum of 2 years. Additional Salary Information:  Title 38 Physician and Dentist Pay (PDP) is authorized for use.This position is being announced concurrently under Direct Hire procedures to U.S. Citizens.
