Along with Department Manager, translate the company vision, mission, and strategies into functional activities within the assigned work areas. Ensures the completion of well-defined departmental tasks; provides effective communication and supervision to department employees; works with the team to develop departmental and individual goals consistent with company strategic plans, policies and programs; fosters a spirit of team work, continuous process improvement, wellness, health and safety; monitors productivity, quality standards and cost objectives to ensure performance standards are being met or exceeded.

Essential Job Responsibilities for Primary Functional Area of Accountability

  • Works with contractors and accurately receive documentation and invoices for engineering and financing.
  • Maintains and oversees budgets for assigned construction projects.
  • Makes necessary adjustments to construction projects and facilitates all redlines to Engineering in order to map changes.
  • Coordinate contractors, vendors and other utilities for OSP work.
  • Addresses problems and makes analytical decisions to best resolve the issue realistically, financially and technically.
  • Ensures adherence to established construction and operational procedures by monitoring the activities of construction contractors, noting and correcting discrepancies. 
  • Ensures all system network design and construction meets federal, state and local requirements. 
  •  Directs the activity of staff, removes roadblocks, coordinates work and monitors network construction progress. 
  • Defines standards and procedures that lead to fundamental improvements in processes and procedures for construction projects.
  • Ensures that established deadlines are met by scheduling and monitoring work assignments for all construction contractors, ensuring staffing is adequate for workload which includes conducting regular evaluations and making recommendations for staff corrections as necessary.


Required Experience, Training, and Special Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in relevant field preferred.  
  • Three or more years of related supervisory, management experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record as verified by Iowa.
  • Department of Transportation. (I.D.O.T).
  • 5+ years’ experience in cable television or telecommunications construction with comprehensive knowledge of outside plant construction specifications, fiber optic technology, and system design.
Requires the following with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • Able to work closely with contractors and other utilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret network engineering maps, fiber documentation and fiber splicing per document requirements.
  • Meet and maintain OSHA requirements while operating tools and equipment provided by ImOn Communications.
  • Ability to climb utility poles.
  • Able to work in areas that are over 30’ in height and also in tight enclosed spaces.
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds independently and up to 90 pounds with assistance, if necessary.
  • Ability to climb ladders and steep staircases.
  • Ability to work in remote and challenging locations, including but not limited to, rooftops, vaults, and all types of geographic locations.
  • The dexterity to connect and disconnect various types of telecommunications cable equipment.
  • Ability to walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment, including ladders and fully loaded tool belts.
