Job Description

Ideas United is looking for enthusiastic and reliable counselors for our upcoming Engineering Technology Camp this summer. Counselors will chaperone a small, diverse group of sophomore and junior high school students at company-provided housing and a technology company’s headquarters in Cupertino, California. This position offers the unique opportunity to form impactful relationships with the next generation in engineering and technology.

Duties/Responsibilities:

? Must be available July 3 through August 9, 2018 for full-time, residential position

? Ensure overall safety and quality of student experience at camp

? Collaborate with Camp Director and other counselors to instill a sense of community and create a safe, fun, and inclusive environment for students of diverse backgrounds

? Provide timely reports to Camp Director and communicate with fellow counselors

? Be available on-site at technology company offices several days a week during camp to assist students as needed

? Assist in the planning, organization, and execution of camp activities

? Assure students are properly supervised at all times

? Be alert to the personal and health needs of students and promptly assist them with issues and problems

? Ensure students’ living and working spaces are clean and organized

? Transport students from camp lodging to camp sponsored activities

? Adhere to and provide guidance around security and confidentiality requirements

? Respect privacy of fellow counselors and students

? Participate in counselor training prior to start of camp

? Assist in camp housing set-up prior to students’ arrival, and clean up and breakdown after students’ departure

? Be on-call during time off during camp

Qualifications/Requirements:

? Must currently reside in the Bay Area

? At least 2 years working with students aged K-12 preferred

? Demonstrated leadership abilities, highly responsible and dependable

? Strong communication and organizational skills

? Excited to be a role model and develop positive and constructive relationships with people of diverse backgrounds

? A strong candidate will be a team player, flexible in evolving and quickly changing circumstances, eager to proactively take on responsibilities

? Previous camp counselor experience a plus

? Interest in technology and software a plus

? Must be CPR/First Aid certified prior to June 1, 2018; certification classes completed after hire will be reimbursed

? Must be 21 years of age or older

? Must have valid drivers license

? Possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of students

? Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods of time

? Physical ability to lift and carry at least 40 lbs.

? Willing to live in a dorm setting and work irregular hours with limited or simple equipment and facilities

? Will be required to complete a background check

Compensation: $2,500 plus room and board.
