Marketing Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL

Duration: Fulltime

Manager Notes:

* Must have a BS in Engineering (prefer Electrical.) Will NOT accept BSEET or other technology degrees.
* Must have VERY strong communication skills. Must have English as a FIRST language.
* Will accept entry level candidates if they have a good internship.
* This is early career, does not want more than 3 years total experience.
* Seeking high energy, positive, outgoing personality
* Would prefer the Fraternity/Sorority house president with a 3.1 GPA over a person with a 4.0 GPA and no social activities


* BS degree in Electrical Engineering preferred, other engineering degrees acceptable. Masters in BA desirable.
* Demonstrated knowledge and sales/marketing techniques, preferably in the utility market.
* Prefer one to three years of product marketing/engineering experience of electric distribution equipment, controls, and/or software.
* Proficiency in both written and verbal English
* Familiarity/experience with distribution automation, SCADA systems, overcurrent protection are a strong plus.
* Strong technical leadership abilities with good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Good PC skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office software.

Job Summary:

This position is for an engineer who understands the technical aspects of automation and control products and applications but is actually more involved in the marketing and promotion of the products. The Overhead Lateral Automation group is responsible for product management for the TripSaver product line. Emphasis is placed on innovation of new products and features for differentiation. In this position, you will report to the Director - Overhead Lateral Automation in Chicago, and you will support the Product Manager(s) for any/all of our automation products.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Supporting Product Management needs for a variety of technical products.
* Preparing customer-facing promotional and instructional materials, including videos/animations.
* Developing training programs for customers and the sales force.
* Working with corporate marketing to develop promotional strategies and materials, support trade shows, manage trade show demos.
* Meeting with customers and explain the value proposition and application of products.
* Researching electric utility market needs, including competitive analysis, and mining internal sales history.
* Writing new product and feature specifications and requirements, with an emphasis on differentiating software features.
* Interface with application engineering to understand and support field applications.
* Providing technical and application information assistance to the sales force and customers.
* Host customer visits to the plant or travel to customers to promote products and learn market needs.
* Participate in internal and customer-facing social media activities.
