Job Description

IBM Systems has an opening for a Signal Integrity (SI) Engineer. This role analyzes, both on card and across cards, the signal integrity of major chip to chip buses using both IBM and industry standard modeling tools. IBM and industry standard buses such as serial attached Small Computer System Interface (scsi) (SAS), Ethernet and Inter-Integrated Circuit (I2C) are analyzed with the objective of minimizing signal loss, cross talk and signal distortion. Experience with the Cadence design tool suite (Concept/Allegro) with emphasis on constraint manager is preferred. Experience in logic simulation, logic design and power integrity is a plus. Skills in High Speed signal measurement are also a plus to support required logic signal verification.

Demonstrated communication and organizational skills are a must. The position involves not only working within our team, but also across multiple organizations.

The SI Engineer has total ownership of assigned card designs or system buses. They are responsible for the signal quality on electronic card designs and/or signal buses, ensuring cards are released per the planned development schedule with high quality. Required Technical and Professional Expertise Coursework or experience in Logic Design or Signal Integrity. Coursework or experience in Signal Simulation. Pursuing or completion of a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. Preferred Technical and Professional Experience Knowledge in performing Signal Integrity Analysis. Knowledge in performing measurements on High Speed Circuits. Knowledge in Signal Integrity Modeling.
