Job Description

We're seeking a Leasing Accountant (~ 20 hours per week) to join HubSpot's growing finance and accounting team. The team is responsible for forecasting and preparing the balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flows on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis to facilitate senior management making sound business decisions based on financial results and to report quarterly and annual financial results to investors and to the SEC.

The team also ensures compliance with the financial controls aspect of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and works side by side with the Financial Planning and Analysis group to analyze budgeted vs. actual financial results on a monthly basis.

In this role you'll get to:

* Maintain the systematic tracking of the Company's portfolio of leases and subleases and assist with the day to day operationalizing of various aspects of the lease agreements such as flagging leases for upcoming rent reviews, tracking landlord notification requirements, billing and verifying sublease tenant charges and receipts, and monitoring lease and letter of credit expirations and renewals
* Develop a process for ongoing coordination and communication between facilities, FP&A, legal, accounting, and external insurance brokers to manage the logistics of continued global expansion into new space
* Own all monthly and quarterly lease activity in support of the financial close process, including completing various account reconciliations and recording lease liability, right-of-use asset, rent expense, and rent income journal entries
* Prepare various analyses around future lease requirements to assist the business in making financial decisions
* Review new and amended leases for financial reporting impact and document conclusions
* Prepare documentation/support needed for SOX compliance
* Support external auditors with quarterly and annual testing
* Assist FP&A with explaining budget v. actual variances

Skills & Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred
* Proficiency in Excel is required
* 2-4 years of overall work experience, mix of public accounting and industry experience a plus
* Willingness to roll-up your sleeves when work needs to get done
* General ledger and business intelligence reporting software experience
* Strong oral and written skills and the ability to communicate
