Job Description

The Intermodal Operations Intern assists the Intermodal Operations team in market planning, carrier management, equipment positioning & distribution, and other projects as assigned.


* Develop strong professional relationships with vendors and assist them in all operational aspects

* Communicate effectively with vendors, internal Hub departments, and other Hub offices

* Work with carriers and Account Management to ensure on time performance of customer shipments, providing solutions to resolve problems as needed

* Manage the movement and distribution of available containers within the network

* Develop and execute equipment repositioning plans, and equipment utilization goals

* Review Hub Group's system utilizing GPS and reporting, resolving discrepancies as needed

* Utilize reporting tools to review trends and forecasts to plan and ensure fluid operations within the market / network

* Work collaboratively with team members to meet and exceed assigned metrics and goals

* Manage the execution of projects as assigned

* Must be a self-starter, and have the ability to communicate and interface effectively with all levels of the Hub organization, its customers and carriers in a manner that consistently produces results
* Knowledge of various Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Excel and Word
* Customer Service / Operations experience preferred but not required
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
* Experience in the transportation industry is preferred but not required
* Enrolled in a transportation, logistics, or supply chain undergraduate degree program for the duration of the internship

We are looking for a summer intern who can work 40 hours per week Monday thru Friday with a preference for an undergraduate student entering their senior year of college.
