POSITION SUMMARY
Provides day-to-day supervision regarding the completion of playgrounds, pest control, irrigation systems, and bleachers. Delivers services through contractors and craftsmen. Responsible for overall work quality, safety, and technical standards.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Works with federal, state, and local authorities to ensure compliance with regulations.
2. Estimates and evaluates the cost of projects for playgrounds, pest control, irrigation systems, and bleachers.
3. Maintains records for playgrounds, pest control, irrigation systems, and bleachers.
4. Monitors projects to ensure that safety procedures are in compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
5. Provides verbal and written communications with district personnel and community organizations relating to departmental operations.
6 .Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree, or In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, additional equivalent and directly related education and experience, as determined by Human Resources and the hiring manager, may be used for the education requirement. Equivalent experience is four or more years in a related field in an exempt-level position, in addition to the minimum experience requirement of 3 years.

Certified Chemical Applicator, Certified Playground Inspector, Certified Bleacher Inspector

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages. Accomplishes the majority of work objectives through the management of direct reports. Provides day-to-day direction to staff; may become directly involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems. Responsible for assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring application of policies and procedures. Receives assignments in the form of objectives, with goals and the process by which to meet goals. Provides input to hiring, performance and budget.

WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT:
Work involves the application of moderately complex procedures and tasks that are quite varied. Independent judgment is often required to select and apply the most appropriate of available resources. Ongoing supervision is provided on an "as needed" basis.

BUDGET AUTHORITY:
Compiles and organizes data and figures.

PROBLEM SOLVING:
Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude, but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.

IMPACT OF DECISIONS:
Follows rules and procedures. Decisions can have minimal or no impact to HISD. Errors can be readily detected, usually by the employee, and, if made, would result in minor expense for correction.

COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS:
Information sharing - gives and receives information such as options, technical direction, instructions and reporting results. Interactions are mostly with customers, own supervisor and coworkers in own and other departments.

CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS:
Takes routine or required customer actions to meet customer needs. Responds promptly and accurately to customer complaints, inquiries and requests for information and coordinates appropriate follow-up. May handle escalated issues passed on from coworkers or subordinates.

WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Work involves frequent exposure to unpleasant elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noise, chemicals, etc. Ability to carry and/or lift up to 15 to 44 pounds.
