Purpose of the Role: The Sr. Professional Learning Consultant is responsible for the fidelity implementation of the SIG and/or RAD school improvement plan.  In this role, the Sr. Professional Learning Consultant is responsible for overseeing the content resources, intervention specialists, community resource and the TLE services.  This position is responsible for insuring effective coaching, mentoring, and implementation of new instructional best practices.  This position will provide executive coaching for the school Director and assist with the creation of a culture of high expectations for all.  The Sr. Professional Learning Consultant will partner with the school Director in making data driven decisions by monitoring bench mark assessments, PPA, and perception data; designing school celebrations for staff and student accomplishments, and developing an engaging differentiated college and career ready TLE and community plans. The Sr. Professional Learning Consultant must foster confidence in the project strategies to encourage their use by the Director of the School, teachers, parents and other school personnel.  The Sr. Professional Learning Consultant is distinguished by their ability to consistently deliver effective and persuasive presentations, knowledge of what it takes to successfully implement a school improvement program in the context of core subjects, knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning programs, coaching techniques, and the ability to resonate with the customer as an expert.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supports Professional Learning, by planning and delivering job-embedded coaching and Professional Development training and provide leadership in his/her area of expertise to teachers, school directors, and district facilitators.
  • Demonstrates a deep content knowledge and ability to effectively communicate customer’s needs both oral and written.
  • Demonstrates best practices in delivery and leverages expertise to ensure customer satisfaction. These include delivery of core competencies for exemplary performance in the following areas: Atmosphere, content knowledge, delivery, learning environment, and professionalism. (HMH Anchor and Performance Standards)
  • Demonstrates understanding of assigned disciplines including core and supplemental material;
  • Works with peers to understand school needs for effective launch of new teaching strategies;
  • Facilitator of tasks, time and space to teachers and the school director, that will provide specific strategies to address or deepen an already introduced subject or an identified need;
  • Develop planning strategies for teachers and foster them as needed;
  • Analysis of student data to ensure a differentiated instruction
  • Assists with the designing of differentiated instruction techniques;
  • Address the needs identified by observations in the classroom, school intervention plan, the result of evaluations and at teachers request;
  • Serve as a facilitator in meetings of learning communities;
  • Ensure the use of the data in the instruction;
  • Promote vertical and horizontal planning;
  • Support the implementation of the issues discussed in the workshops;
  • Delivers effective training and presentations tailored to the school’s needs;
  • Manages work flow to stay on target based on project schedule;
  • Integrates strategies defined in the work plan to formulate a long term plan for instructional improvement;
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge about educational issues and utilizes that information to build a foundation for effective strategies implementation;
  • Demonstrates a depth in the content areas knowledge in order to propose solutions in a way that reflects product strengths while aligning with curriculum trends, and school’s needs;
  • Utilizes knowledge of new educational products to enhance delivery in the classroom; serves as a resource for school personnel and colleagues when market or product information is needed; stays abreast of new developments in technology;
  • Ensures that all services are delivered effectively and prepares teachers to use them in the classroom;
  • Customizes services based on the school’s needs and prepares and delivers effective interactive strategies that reflect new and creative ideas relating to current issues and trends and provides stimulating ideas for teachers to implement in their classrooms.



  • Master’s degree in Education required from an accredited college or university (minimum)
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English-Preferred)
  • Teaching experience and curriculum expertise
  • Proven experience leading, organizing, or delivering professional development activities
  • Proven experience with team management
  • Current expertise in instructional pedagogy and experience with implementation of instructional technology
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Proficiency with applications that run across the Worldwide Web
  • Ability to travel throughout assigned schools to implement project strategies, to work with team members, attend meetings, and to assist in implementations of  SIG/RAD services
  • Ability to frequently carry/lift/move up to 25 pounds i.e. laptops, projectors and software etc.

  • Department of Health Certification (active)
  • College transcripts (official or copy for every degree)
  • ASUME certification
  • Other certifications (related to subject expertise or any other that will support the knowledge for the position)
