ROLE SUMMARY: The subject coach in the Puerto Rico Professional Services team is accountable for the delivery of high-quality professional services. Responsibility includes achieving specified delivery metrics with a focus on delivering high quality customer services that are aligned with best practices (HMH Anchor & Performance Standards). The Professional Learning Consultant will demonstrate strong customer relationships through on-going support of implementations and Professional Development Services.   The Professional Learning Consultant will seek opportunities to expand their expertise and skills to align with HMH Anchor and Performance Standards.



  • Supports Professional Learning, by planning and delivering job-embedded coaching and Professional Development training and provide leadership in his/her area of expertise to teachers, school directors, and district facilitators.
  • Demonstrates a deep content knowledge and ability to effectively communicate customer’s needs both oral and written.
  • Demonstrates best practices in delivery and leverages expertise to ensure customer satisfaction. These include delivery of core competencies for exemplary performance in the following areas: Atmosphere, content knowledge, delivery, learning environment, and professionalism. (HMH Anchor and Performance Standards)
  • Works on functional portions of projects, either independently or as part of a team, as assigned by management.
  • When assigned to projects, reports to project leadership (as defined for each specific project) for all project-related issues.
  • Collaborates and develops relationships with personnel from project team as required.
  • Promptly advises project leadership of functional problems or roadblocks on projects.
  • Adheres to all standards of business practice and tools used in the Professional Service team.
  • Consistently applies implementation methodologies and standards used by the Professional Service organization.
  • Develops and conducts in-service training for all teachers regarding the curriculum, researched-based instructional strategies, and best practices.
  • Performs periodic classroom visitations, assists teachers in the improvement of instructional performance, performs periodic binder reviews, and monitors improvement.
  • Demonstrates lessons in classroom situations for observation by teachers.
  • Facilitates grade level and/or subject area team meetings.
  • Serves as a resource to school administrators and content area teachers in identifying reading needs, adapting instructional techniques, and implementing reading strategies across the curriculum.
  • Assists with the development of school literacy initiatives.
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports school and student benchmark data.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.



  • Master’s degree in Education required from an accredited college or university (minimum)
  • Proven experience leading, organizing, or delivering professional development activities
  • Demonstrated evidence of involvement in school activities involving leadership responsibilities.
  • Current expertise in instructional pedagogy and experience with implementation of instructional technology
  • Teaching experience and curriculum expertise
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Proficiency with applications that run across the Worldwide Web
  • Ability to travel throughout assigned schools to implement project strategies, to work with team members, attend meetings, and to assist in implementations of Professional Development Services.

  • Must master content knowledge, communication skills, digital skills, leadership ability and willingness to learn.
  • Must be available to work full days with possible evenings and Saturdays.

  • Possesses strong time management and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Has the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, students, the community, and administrative staff. Is sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill, and the public image, as unique situations present themselves.
  • Looks for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Strives to implement best practices and positive character education consistently.

  • 300 law Certification (active)
  • Police Report (Antecedentes Penales vigente)
  • Department of Health Certification (active)
  • College transcripts (official or copy for every degree)
  • ASUME certification
  • Other certifications (related to subject expertise or any other that will support the knowledge for the position)
