HMH seeks a passionate consumer marketer. This dynamic role in the emerging Consumer Group provides a satisfying balance of brand & creative development and “roll up your sleeves” ownership of implementation and results.

 

Will be responsible for creating revenue-driving, actionable, data-driven marketing campaigns and well as building the overall brand.  Leader must be excited to drive innovative thinking, put new processes in place, navigate the latest marketing technology software, uncover the most powerful insights, challenge status quo and provide hands-on leadership to implement successful product launches, brand development, customer acquisition, audience development, engagement, and retention strategy across multiple products.  

 

There will be a focus on digital subscription products and mobile apps, helping to launch a subscription commerce initiative, and re-launching advertising-supported digital media properties.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Create marketing strategies and programs to break through noise and drive their aggressive execution
  • Drive acquisition (registrations, subscriptions, downloads, etc…) across paid (Facebook, Google, ad networks, TV, programmatic, podcast, direct mail) and support it in owned (website, email, ASO/SEO, mobile CRM including push notes & interstitials) channels to nurture ongoing customer loyalty, upgrades, and x-sell to maximize LTV
  • Fluent in efficiency metrics CPC, CPL, CPI, CPA, LTV, ROAS, Open Rate, CTR, Opt Out, etc…
  • With your inspirational and data-driven skillset, deliver massive results with rigorous discipline to track, analyze, and evaluate results to drive revenue and optimize ROI. 
  • Motivate digital agencies and internal and external partners to create and execute initiatives for each product/brand.
  • Upgrade marketing technology (“MarTech”)
  • Lead mobile data management platform (“DMP”) and mobile first CRM implementations including event tagging and data flows including campaign level LTV for all apps
  • Analytics skill building – Help establish a culture of metrics-driven marketing
  • Build analytical capability in team via KPIs in a simple, usable, and current resource for insight-guided decisions
  • Provide insight-rich synthesis of quantitative results and ongoing research to offer new ideas to continually improve outcomes
  • Agile budget management: Track, validate, and aggressively optimize budget to largest opportunities
  • Leverage experience in best practices and digital marketplace trends
  • Work closely with Heads of Content Marketing, SEO, and Web Product Management on aggressive Audience Development and Influencer Marketing goals with eye toward bottom line impact.

     

    Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) with concentration in Marketing or related field (e.g. Math, Finance, Economics). MBA strong plus (relevant degree preferred – but experience and skills are deciding factors)
  • 4+ years experience in digital Consumer Marketing roles (Marketing or Ad Agency account management
  • Proven track record of building world class digital brands and organizations
  • Track record of building scalable operating processes and systems to execute flawlessly in performance-based marketing environment
  • Ability to see challenges in growing/evolving organization and solve as a self-starter
  • Strong leadership spirit.  You build cross-functional relationships, comfortably navigating matrix org with orientation toward KPI goal
  • Experience managing agencies, designers, and copywriters as well as writing simple and compelling creative briefs
  • Well-developed communication/presentation skills
  • Strategic Thinker.  Proven high-level conceptual thinker who articulates and converts ideas/concepts into plans and action
  • Strong experience revealing consumer insights to build compelling program
  • Customer acquisition/subscription marketing expertise required
  • Experience managing paid media(Facebook, Google, ad networks, TV, programmatic, podcast, direct mail) and supporting owned media (website, email, ASO/SEO, mobile CRM incluidng push notes & interstitials) channels across platforms including web, iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku, Chromecast, Amazon Fire, etc
  • Well-developed analytical, financial valuation, MS Excel, and quantitative skills
  • Strong background in digital metrics and measurement platforms (Google Analytics, Adobe Suite, Kochava, Tune, Appsflyer, etc…)
  • Experience working with marketing software for data management “DMP” (Segment, mParticle, Krux), mobile messaging (Appboy, Localytics, Kahuna), web (Wordpress, Sitecore, Bounce Exchange, Dynamic Yield), email (SendGrid, Mailchimp, Responsys, Eloqua, Sailthru), ASO (Sensor Tower, App Annie, Searchman), and SEO (BuzzSumo, Moz, SEMRush)
  • Experience managing substantial budgets and/or P&Ls
  • Superb negotiation skills
  • Successful track record in Audience Development, Content Marketing, and Influencer Marketing driving both ad-supported and purchase (subscription/product) revenue.

     

    Physical Requirements:

  • Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
  • The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
