A UX Design Researcher seeks to understand the jobs our users have and the work they do, record their frustrations, and conceptualize their mental models. The researcher will be involved in planning a research activity, execute that plan, analyze collected data, and present what was learned and recommend how to make improvements. He/she recommends best practices for working with users from both an accessibility and usability standpoint.

What You'll Be Doing

* Contribute to a research plan to identify what data needs to be collected, who will be involved, what needs to be done, how the data needs to be analyzed, and why it will be helpful
* Coordinating with business stakeholders to recruit participants
* Conducting usability tests of upcoming projects with expert and novice users both remotely and in person
* Assessing our software accessibility and usability to make recommendations for enhancements using WCAG (accessibility) and heuristic principles (usability) frameworks as guides
* Analyze the data collected and describe recommendations for future design/development work to address any deficiencies found in the testing
* Report the results to business stakeholders

What You'll Bring to the Table

* Enrollment in a master's degree or Ph.D. program in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology
* A rigorous, attentive-to-the-details process in the way you approach user research
* Ability to present your work to a co-functional team in a coherent and user-accessible manner
* An inquisitive nature that seeks understanding
* Comprehension of basic UI and UX best practices
* Experience conducting usability evaluations (even if in a school setting)
* Fanaticism about organization and organizational systems/schemas
* Experience producing low-fidelity wireframes on paper, on whiteboard, or in a design tool
* Familiarity with the following: Section 508/WCAG Accessibility, Heuristic Evaluation

What's Good to Know

* Our team is partially composed of remote team members, including some outside the US. It may be necessary for occasional meetings outside normal working hours.
* You will need to be comfortable interacting with customers and end users occasionally.
