Job Description

Now is a great time to grow your career today! The Common Design department of the Software Center of Excellence has an immediate need for an entry level software engineer!

This position will support the development of middleware & Input / Output software. Knowledge of the C/C programming language, PowerPC assembler, Commercial Embedded Operating Systems, Board Support Packages and hardware interfaces is useful. The software developer is to work on the full lifecycle activities for low level software on a variety of products over time. Competency with hardware/software integration in a lab environment is desired. The selected candidate will work with the software development team in defining DO0-178B artifacts for FAA certification. This position will be based in Tucson, Arizona. Relocation assistance will not be provided.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Work as a member of the Middleware and I/O team regarding the acquisition, development and deployment of middleware and I/O software solutions for use across the Electronics Centers of Excellence(ECoE) various product CoEs, including any "certification" activities, if applicable (e.g., DO-178B).
Participate as member of the technical staff to:
Develop expertise in the development, verification and certification of low level software
components for use in embedded real-time, safety-critical applications.
Participate in activities required to develop new, reuseablereusable, low level software components.
Participate in activities required to successfully integrate these software components into the target hardware and support integration with application software.
Linkage to product development teams to understand software and product requirements
Understanding of low level (driver) software development techniques and digital and analog circuitry to software interface technologies.
Understanding of robust software development processes and activities related to the development of embedded, real-time, safety-critical software applications.
Self-motivated with a strong customer focus.
Ability to work within a multi-site team setting.

Basic Qualifications:

Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien, due to ITAR program requirements
Candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, from an accredited college or university
Minimum 6 months experience using C and C programming.

Additional Qualifications:

Candidate willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time
Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred
Evidence of technical knowledge associated with low level software driver creation and embedded real-time, safety-critical software development activities and technologies
Experienced in Perl/Python a plus
Knowledge of basic communications protocols (especially ARINC, TCP/IP, UDP, FTP, Telnet)
Knowledge of RTCA DO-178B software development process
Ability to work with technical community across multiple remote sites
Knowledge of electronic collaboration techniques desired
Flexible and open style with demonstrated ability to adapt to changing systems, processes and projects

Solid communication skills and strong customer focus
