The Homesite Countrywide Actuarial is a team of actuaries and quantitative staff responsible for analyzing company profitability, forecasting and monitoring business results, and completing ad hoc analyses. As a member of our team, you can expect to:

* Research and develop datasets and prepare analytical reports, with the opportunity to expand technical expertise in Excel spreadsheets, SAS, SQL, R, and Python applications,
* Gain knowledge of insurance company underwriting and pricing operations, and
* Complete ad hoc quantitative analyses to provide needed business solutions.

Responsibilities:

* Assist with quarterly reviews of state rate indications
* Understand the primary drivers of rate indications including loss and premium trend and loss development
* Generate ad-hoc reports and exhibits to support analyses
* Acquire data and interpret data layouts, fields, values, and database structures
* Develop and maintain countrywide policy and loss datasets for use in regular and ad-hoc analyses
* Support team efforts to price new products and features such as Renters Liability only policy
* Support forecasting and budgeting projects and monitor premium, retention, and loss trends against plan and identify key drivers of variances
* Work closely with both the Countrywide Actuarial team and other internal departments to complete projects

Requirements:

* Excellent skills using Excel
* Familiarity with statistical software packages such as SAS and R preferred
* Understanding of common programming languages including SQL and VBA preferred
* Coursework in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Economics, or Finance
* Skilled in critical thinking and analysis
* Strong communication skills
* Willingness to work on their own and as part of a team of analysts
* Eagerness to learn about the insurance industry
