Job Description

Responsibilities include providing service to customers coming to the pharmacy, answering telephones, assembling floor stock medications, refilling Pyxis machines, transportation of medications to and from nursing floors and departments, pre-packing and labeling medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct.Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures. Additionally, assists pharmacists with all aspects of departmental operations . Assists the pharmacist with floor stock inspections. Further duties include maintaining record keeping and inventory control of the Narcotic Vault and the CII Safe and assuring the timely delivery of narcotics to patient care areas. Performs Tech check Tech function. assists in the training of Technician I's or new technicians/ Assists in resolving narcotic discrepancies. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Specific Essential Functions ï‚· Clinical Care: Ensure patient care is delivered and the unit is maintained in accordance with professional regulatory standards. Job Behavioral Competencies ï‚· Record time and attendance accurately and timely. Quality and Service ï‚· Provide quality service and support to patients and/or client groups. Demonstrate a positive image and perform responsibilities in a professional manner. Ensure that all information and services provided are accurate, meet the client's needs, and are available in a timely manner. ï‚· Adheres to all patient care and department standards, policies and procedures, and meet regulatory requirements on a continued basis. ï‚· For team leaders (Supervisors, Charge Nurse, Lead), establish clear objectives and measure/monitor progress and results related to department/organization goals and initiatives. Utilize industry standards and benchmarks to measure quality and increase customer satisfaction. Hospital/Department Policies ï‚· Comply with annual health evaluation without a reminder. ï‚· Attend required department and hospital meetings. ï‚· Maintain current license, certification, and registration ï‚· Complete annual "house-wide mandatories" per hospital/department requirements. ï‚· Complete competencies per department requirements within expected timeframes. ï‚· Perform job within hospital/patient safety standards (e.g. codes, fire, disaster, etc.) ï‚· Perform job in safe manner to avoid injury to self and others, illnesses, and exposure to blood/body fluids, wear personal protective equipment, and uses appropriate safety products. ï‚· Maintain a personal dress standard in keeping with hospital/department policy and wear approved name badge. ï‚· Demonstrate knowledge of and practices the hospital and department policies and operating procedures. This knowledge may include the use of specialized instrumentation, Quality Control requirements, and preventative maintenance. ï‚· Demonstrate knowledge of and practices the standards outlined in Hoag's Code of conduct as well as additional regulatory or compliance policies applicable to their job responsibilities. Take timely action in response to any matter which raises a suspicion that a violation of law or Hoag Policy has occurred. Job Qualifications Education, Training and Experience Required: High school diploma or equivalency. Must possess a valid Technician Certification from the State of California and PTCB certified. PTCB certification may be substituted by an internal certification process to be attained within 3 months of employment. Preferred: Skills or Other Qualifications Required: Working skills in general mathematics and familiarity with drug nomenclature and/or medical terminology. Demonstrates effective communication, interpersonal skills, organizational ability, knowledge of proper body mechanics, safety measures and infection control, ability to follow instructions, knowledge of section specific test information and instrumentation may be required
