The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB is currently seeking an Accounting Assistant II to join our Design Build team in Kansas City, MO.

Job Summary

Performs a variety of routine and some non-routine clerical/accounting functions in accordance with standard procedures in general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax, project accounting, or related financial area. Reconciles bank accounts, posts information and balances general or subsidiary ledgers, processes payments and compiles segments of monthly closings, annual reports, etc. Contacts other departments and/or outside agencies to resolve problems.

Essential Responsibility

* Receives, researches, and resolves variety of routine internal and external inquiries concerning account status, including communicating the resolution of discrepancies to appropriate persons.
* May assist less experienced staff with training and resolving issues.
* Codes such items as receipts, invoices, vouchers, expense reports, etc., with correct codes conforming to standard procedures to ensure proper entry into the financial system.
* Processes manual checks for approved payment requests.
* Assists with journal entries, monthly status reports, closings, and reconciling bank statements.
* Prepares and mails bills or statements or prepares lists of outstanding bills payable.
* Reconciles various accounts by identifying errors in posting or omissions by applying appropriate accounting standards.
* Processes remittance information from checks, drafts, and wire transfers submitted by customers, reviewing instructions accompanying items to determine proper disposition and crediting accounts in accordance with standard procedures.
* Files, maintains, and distributes accounting documents, records, and reports.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualification Associate's degree in Accounting 2 years related experience In lieu of education, 4 years related experiencePreferred Qualification/Skills- Good communication skills, written and verbal - Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word - Invoice review and reconciliation against contracts - Invoice tracking - Works well in team environment *LI-NFGeneral Work Conditions Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
