HME is currently recruiting for an DSP Research Engineer . The Engineer will research, evaluate, and develop DSP algorithms for new products.

What you will do in this position:

-Participates in preparing project schedule and estimating study costs.

-Researches algorithms that have already been developed to achieve study goals.

-Prepares algorithm performance tests using math tools C/C++ or other software tools as appropriate.

-Evaluates algorithm performance against existing products and other similar algorithms.

-Conducts user testing and documents test results.

-Assists with demonstrations, estimating development and manufacturing costs and identifying design risks for new concepts.

-Evaluates and tests algorithms using vendor-supplied evaluation boards or HME-constructed breadboards.

-Prepares written reports documenting study including concepts,testresults,evaluationfindings,andprojectedproductcosts.

-Follows all HME standard operating procedures and work instructions.

-Interfaces with customers at test sites as required to help evaluate breadboard performance and possible product viability.

-Keeps abreast of new and changing technologies with the goal of finding new and more cost effective solutions.

-Provides detailed training to design engineers as needed on new algorithms.

-Provides consulting support to design engineers developing products based on researched technologies.

-Attends project design team meetings if requested.

-Participates and critiques product designs as needed.

-Uses knowledge of signal processing theory to design entirely new algorithms when required.

-Prepares demonstrations of new algorithms.

-Prepares written report sand documentation of the new algorithms.

What you need to succeed in this position:

-Able to read, understand, and implement designs based on theoretical research papers.

-Able to communicate clearly and concisely in English through both written and verbal reports.

-Knowledgeable about speech processing concepts

-Familiar with concepts of signal extraction and noise suppression.

-Familiar with C programming language.

-Familiar with MATLAB, Octave, Scilab or similar mathematical tools.

-Able to work with vendors to evaluate algorithms.

-Able to communicate with customers at test sites.

-Knowledgeable about DSP techniques.

-College training in circuit design and analysis.

-MS or PHD (college graduate) - Required
