We are in search of a Linux Systems Software Developer to join our growing HP Helion and HP Eucalyptus Cloud team. You will own the backend components of an infrastructure-as-a-service system. You will be a member of a small team tasked with implementing the low-level virtual machine, virtual network, and storage control plane within Helion Eucalyptus built on a C stack using SOAP messaging (axis2c). Helion Eucalyptus is an AWS-compatible open-source Infrastructure-as-a-system platform for on-premise cloud computing. Most development work will be done in C with some python and some Java code exposure. Must enjoy the challenges of developing and maintaining code that runs at scale to manage large datacenter environments. Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and welcome responsibility and ownership of your code and product. Responsibilities * Design and implement internal services within Helion Eucalyptus for virtual machines, and virtual networks, and storage . * Interact with the architecture, development, documentation, and customer support teams for the full product lifecycle from design to deployment and maintenance. * Write high quality, testable production C code that runs on hundreds to thousands of machines and interacts with Linux networking, virtualization, and storage systems. * Evaluate new technologies and products for potential fit within the system and make recommendations to the architecture team Qualifications Education and Experience * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent * Minimum 6-10 years experience * Experience working with Linux systems at a deep, technical level * Experience in distributed, message-based systems a plus * Experience with Python and Java a plus * Experience building and/or managing VM images on AWS a plus * AWS API usage experience a plus Knowledge and Skills * Expert knowledge of C/C (primarily C), gcc, autoconf, and Make. * Expert knowledge of Linux system utilities and system calls. * Excellent analytical and problem solving skills * Axis2/C and Rampart knowledge a plus * Networking implementation skills in Linux a definite plus * Virtualization in Linux--KVM and libvirt * Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English. Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at senior management levels.
