Job Description:
This position is for an R&D Fluidic Architecture Engineer. The Fluidic Architect is responsible for the development, innovation, characterization and integration of advanced microfluidic drop ejection solutions for products spanning pagewide office printing, industrial digital printing presses, fabrics and textile printers, 3D printers, and applied lifescience microfluidic applications. Key responsibilities for this position will include:
- Characterization of ink/architecture interactions including drop weight, printhead energy, ejection reliability, dot shape placement, and printhead life.
- Modeling of performance characteristics of drop ejection designs including: thermal, electrical, fluidic, and mechanical parameters.
- Design and characterization of new microfluidic MEMS drop ejection devices.
- Advancement and integration of material science innovations for drop performance and printhead reliability.
- Development and advancement of test solutions to measure and monitor the performance of drops and printheads.
- Development of micromachining and microfluidic technology for applications in lifesciences, micro biomedical science, and advanced micro sensing markets.
- Partnering with other teams and groups (mechanical, firmware, electrical engineering, ink and writing system teams) to develop, integrate, and validate new solutions

- Bachelor, Masters, or Ph.D. in engineering discipline. (Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering)

Demonstrated working knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
Ability to work & effectively interact with team members from other disciplines, projects, organizations, cultures & companies.
Resourceful, creative and flexible.
Skills in analytical decision-making, troubleshooting and problem-solving. Proficiency in practical experiment design and excellent knowledge of applied statistics.
System-level thinking.
Interface with a broad variety of specialists to drive and coordinate solutions within the inkjet lab and across product divisions.
Ability to exercise independent judgment, work within defined policies and practices.
Determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.
Exhibit solid planning, organizational and documentation skills.
High degree of commitment and initiative.
Experience with new product development is desirable.
Fluent spoken and written English.
