As members of the Silicon Design Lab (SDL), we design the chipsets that power HP's high performance computing systems. SVL has sites in Houston, TX; Plano, TX, and Fort Collins, CO.

Design Verification is an integral part of computer hardware development within SDL. The verification team is responsible for ensuring that new High End Compute Server product designs are free from functional defects prior to fabrication. The team consists of hardware and software engineers with an in-depth knowledge of logic design, computer architecture, systems design, and software development practices; team members have a desire to create leading design verification methodologies.

EXPECTED RESPONSIBILITY:

The job requires a knowledge of computer architecture including, cache coherency, multi-computer design, as well as an understanding of software development practices and methodologies. Under the guidance of a mentor, the candidate will use his/her knowledge of hardware design, computer architecture, and software development to complement the existing team in ensuring that new HP compute products are free from functional defects prior to fabrication.

MUST HAVE:

College graduate with BS, MS or PhD degree in EE, ECE, CE or equivalent

Strong understanding of logic design and computer architecture

S trong programming skills
Strong communication and teamwork skills

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate for this position would have the following experience/knowledge:

Leadership experience at university and/or participation in extracurricular activities in student organizations and and/or community service

Prior internship experience

Coursework in C or C in a UNIX environment

Coursework in object oriented design

Introductory understanding of design verification principles and practices

Course work in computer architecture, software engineering, data structures, VLSI design, and fault tolerant computing
Solid understanding of basic EE fundamentals
