Job Description

This software intensive support role helps to enable writing systems testing. This includes the ability to set up a printer/print bank system to print and scan diagnostic image files which are then electronically rendered and have algorithms applied that enable information transfer to a database. Successful candidate will be exposed to processes and associated SW used to create, print, and scan artwork used in printed images. Successful candidate will learn to create custom print sample images which are then incorporated into writing systems testing, and to understand the process by which those images are input to a database where they can then be queried and analyzed. Assignments are highly complex in nature and a strong degree of independent judgment, initiative and technical knowledge is required to resolve problems.


* Must have 3.0 GPA and be one year from graduating with a discipline in Computer Science, Engineering, IT support or other Computer\Software related field.
* Internship typically starts mid-June and lasts through mid-September
* Interns are considered regular HP employees
* Work schedule typically 8-hour day 5 days/week
* Interns are assigned a mentor and focus on learning general position overview as well as participate in daily activities of mentor
* Interns are usually assigned a specific project that they own
* Interns participate in weekly one on one with manager/mentor to discuss progress against learning objectives
* Interns to do a comprehensive presentation to management and technical staff at end of rotation
* Potential for full time employment upon graduation of degree program
* Paid position


Students typically working towards a first level university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT support or other Computer\Software related fields.

Experience with or ability to learn printer and scanner support and troubleshooting

Experience or demonstrated ability to quickly learn software applications, design tools and languages used to create artwork for printed images, the scripting that enables their printing, and the tools and software that enables their scanning and transfer to the database.

Required Skills

Excellent oral and written communication.

Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills.
