Job description:

This is a R&D Materials & Product Reliability Engineering position within HP's imaging and printing business.

What you will do:

The emphasis is on new products, materials development, and reliability characterization to meet the new challenges of our ever broadening print portfolio including Multi-Jet Fusion 3D printing, packaging, textiles, and industrialization of advancing print technology applications.

Our print technology includes many complex materials, and design challenges. Polymers, ceramics, metals, elastomers, multilayer films, and electronics that must provide state of the art mechanical, fluidic, electrical, adhesion, thermal, chemically resistant, cost, and volume manufacturing performance. We are interested in a college grad win an academic background and interest in Materials development and reliability engineering who can apply analytical/experimental techniques to solve complex materials and product development questions. This job involves the following:

* Apply a broad range of analytical techniques to analyze, understand, characterize, and improve upon materials used in our printing systems.
* Develop new analytical methods as required to probe for unknown issues, failure modes, and material reliability factors.
* Plan, Lead, and coordinate testing to achieve required learning, feasibility, margins proof.
* Organize and analyze data for estimating time to failure of various materials and components.
* Make decisions about the relative significance of test data from a series of tests
* Deliver clear documentation, reporting and communication of your work.



PhD, Masters, or Bachelor's degree candidates in Materials Science, Reliability Engineering, Chemical Engineering (or related science).

Desirable skills are as follows:

* Ability to summarize materials properties that can lead to a successful search and development of a materials for specific purpose
* Experience developing and a testing materials for a given application.
* Experience in design of experiments.
* Experience in planning and executing tests to determine the time to failure of the material or system of materials.
* Experience in planning and executing multi-stress level experimentation used to determine activation energies.
* Experience in mechanical design and its impact on material design.
* Ability to broadly contribute in a fast-paced, industrial R&D environment
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Excellent planning, organizational, and documentation skills
* Ability to give clear and effective presentations to inform and persuade peers and managers
